Christina Uwins & Simon Butler-Manuel

Christina is a Senior Clinical Research Fellow in Robotic Gynecological Oncology currently working towards an MD on the role of robotic surgery in gynecological oncology. During her postgraduate training Christina has gone on to gain her MRCS and MRCOG.Christina is also the principal author on the Cochrane intervention review minimally invasive surgery (robotic or laparoscopic) versus laparotomy for advanced ovarian cancer. Following her MD, Christina plans to undertake Gynecological Oncology sub-specialty training with a view to becoming a Consultant in Gynecological Oncology.

Simon Butler-Manuel is a Consultant Gynecologist who specializes in gynecological surgery for cancer and complex benign disease. Within the profession, he is one of the most renowned minimal access gynecological surgeons in the UK, with an international reputation in oncology and minimal access surgery. Simon is a very experienced laparoscopic surgeon, was an early adopter of Da Vinci robotic surgery, and has pioneered the adoption of this in the UK. He is also an experienced colposcopist and has a particular interest in surgery for cervical cancer. Simon helped establish the new Gynecological Cancer Centre in Guildford. Guildford is now recognized as one of the leading and progressive centers for gynecological cancer care and robotic surgery in the UK. Simon has been central to adoption and implementation of robotic surgery in gynecology and other surgical disciplines at the Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford, which is now the largest center for robotic surgery in the NHS, with three Da Vinci systems in clinical use at present and a fourth system available for training purposes.
