World Allergy Organization Journal joins BioMed Central

From 2013, the World Allergy Organization’s official journal will be published by BioMed Central, transferring from Lippincott Williams & Wilkins.

World Allergy Organization Journal (WAO Journal) has been publishing since 2008 with a focus on articles with specific clinical relevance and practical measures that are critical for the practice of allergy anywhere in the world. Allowing unrestricted access via the open access publishing model was the next logical step for the journal, which has been online since its inception.

WAO Journal joins a growing allergy portfolio at BioMed Central, including Allergy, Asthma & Clinical Immunology (the official journal of CSACI), Clinical and Molecular Allergy and Clinical and Translational Allergy (an official journal of EAACI). The adoption of open access in the field of allergy, supported by a number of important societies, highlights the growing need for unrestricted access to research in the community.

Dr Ruby Pawankar, President of the World Allergy Organization, said, “As an organization with global reach, it is important for our official journal to mirror the organization’s commitments to improving the knowledge-share needed for immediate care and prevention of asthma and allergic disease, which are becoming more complex and more prevalent worldwide, especially in children, and increasing in the burden on patients as well as societies.”

Previous and new followers of the WAO Journal are encouraged to register with the new journal website here to stay up to date with developments.
