Antiviral Applications of RNA Interference

RESEARCH CONFERENCES

ESF-EMBO Symposium

Antiviral Applications of RNA Interference

Hotel Eden Roc, Sant Feliu de Guixols (Costa Brava)  Spain 5-10 April 2008

With support from

RNA interference (RNAi) is a promising new technology, which allows specific inhibition of gene expression. The conference will bring together leading biochemists, molecular biologists, virologists and clinical physicians to discuss the potential of RNAi as an antiviral tool for research and medical purposes. Only recently, the first clinical trials in humans to evaluate the safety profile of RNAi approaches have been initiated. The meeting will cover the most recent progress in the field by 22 invited presentations of internationally renowned researchers, complemented by shorter contributed oral presentations of young scientists and by poster presentations.

The focus will be on human pathogenic viruses, but new concepts originating from plant virology will also be included. Furthermore, micro RNAs play an important role in the interplay between viruses and their hosts and will therefore be covered. The symposium will be the first comprehensive meeting combining RNAi and antiviral research.
