Peter Yeates & Katherine Woolf

Dr Peter Yeates qualified as doctor in 2001 from Newcastle University, and works clinically as a consultant in acute and respiratory medicine at Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. He’s performed a variety of educational roles since 2005. He completed his PhD between 2009-2012 at the University of Manchester, exploring influences on examiners’ judgements in medical education and demonstrating their susceptibility to contrast effects (bias due to the performance of preceding students).  He now works at Keele University School of Medicine, with ongoing research focusing on standard setting in medical educational assessment; innovative assessment approaches; and further investigation of examiner biases.

Dr Katherine Woolf is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and educational advisor to the Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians (UK) examination. She was co-chair of the UCL Race Equality Steering Group from 2013 to 2016; co-led UCL Medical School's successful Silver Athena SWAN application - working for gender equality in science and medicine; and worked on UCL's successful Bronze Race Equality Charter Mark application.
