Marie-Therese Nödl

Marie obtained her PhD at the University of Vienna in collaboration with the University of Hawaii, where she studied the evolution of the cephalopod body plan. From there she was recruited to the Italian Institute of Technology in Genova, Italy to examine the development and regeneration of the octopus muscular arm. Her new found interest in regenerative biology eventually drew her back to the US, where she studied tendon regeneration in zebrafish at the Mass General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston. Marie joined the BMC series as an Associate Editor in 2022. She is passionate about science communication and the well-being of our planet.
