Catherine Merrick

Catherine Merrick is a lecturer at Keele University. Her research group within Keele’s Centre for Applied Entomology and Parasitology focuses on the human malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum, using molecular genetics and biochemistry to improve our understanding of the parasite’s basic biology and the impact of this biology on virulence.

Catherine also serves on the council of the British Society for Parasitology as Communications Secretary and manages the BSP website and social media. She has written for a variety of print and online media including BugBitten, the BSP journal club, Biological Sciences Review and the literary magazine Slightly Foxed.
